Rob was honoured to be invited by the Harlem Globetrotters to perform at half time at one of the English tour Exhibition games at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham with arguably the worlds best basketball freestyler, Tommy Baker.
Rob has worked with Tommy on another event with the globetrotters in Manchester on a previous tour.
“The Globetrotters are undoubtedly the best basketball show in the world and having the opportunity to perform at one of their games and also to do a private show behind the scenes with them was immense”
Rob was watching Tommy go through a ball handling routine watched also by the trotters in the corridor prior to the game, and was pleasantly surprised at the reaction of the players on seeing Tommy spin the ball around his body and even seeing the ‘impossible trick’ being performed. They were blown away with his magic.
One of the trotters then looked over at Rob and asked, “got any skills maan”?
Rob then gave a little demo of his soccer skills to some of the players of which many had never seen but were taken aback by. He also spent a little time talking with the players on how they learned new tricks, the thoughts and ideas of how they came about and how they put them into practice. A great insight into their world
“The experience was amazing. Having those players compliment me on my skills was just the best feeling ever and having a private audience for two minutes doesn’t come much better than the Harlem Globetrotters”.
