Rob was Invited to Iceland again to once again show off his skills at a massive youth soccer tournament in Akureri sponsored by ESSO.
The event attracted players from all over the islands and the mainland to become one of the most successful football tournaments in Scandinavia. It was also refereed by non other than Dermot Gallagher
Rob has since become firm friends with Dermot himself and event organizer and Managing Director, Gunnar Gunnarson of first division team K.A, as Rob has worked in Iceland on numerous occasions.
“It takes a bit of getting used to, as at night as It doesn’t get dark in the summer and you only have an hour or so daylight in the winter”.
He spent 6 days interacting with the youngsters, running soccer skills/ freestyle workshops and just generally making himself available to the hundreds of kids wanting to talk about English soccer, learn some freestyling or just to be around him.
After leaving Akureri, Rob was flown down to the Country’s capital Reykjavík to be a guest on one of the nations favorite News channel’s to enlighten the Icelandic’s about freestyling and how he became involved etc.
Rob ended the tournament by giving the 3000+ kids and their families a demonstration of his skills and also was on hand to present the prizes and awards to the players
